With increased globalization and companies expanding their international presence, the need to share engineering data globally throughout the extended enterprise has rapidly increased. The viewing community that needs to access and review this information has grown to include staff from maintenance, operations, purchasing, external suppliers and on-site contractors around the world.
With the growing viewing community, the amount of time wasted in locating the right information increases, leading to decreased productivity. There is a rising need to have simple, advanced search capabilities. Our BlueCielo Meridian Explorer module enables the quick and accurate enterprise-wide availability of technical documentation to a large global viewer community.
The zero footprint BlueCielo Explorer web client provides extensive but easy-to use search options to find technical documentation. Specific views of the data can be provided to different user groups, showing only the data they need to see. After the initial search, the user has many options to further refine the search results through additional criteria or filtering techniques.
Of the engineering data displayed, the user has options to either report the search query results or look at more details of the content. Documents can be printed or viewed (many 2D and 3D formats are supported through server-based viewing) and revisions can be compared. For extensive reporting and dashboards, third-party reporting tools like Chrystal Reports or Microsoft Reporting Services can be used.
The content of the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise vault gets automatically synchronized with the BlueCielo Explorer repository. Globally operating organizations will have multiple local BlueCielo Meridian environments which can all be consolidated into one global engineering data warehouse.
The configurator gives full control of which data goes into the repository, allowing mapping of local data in the local language and even with local meta-data to be mapped to the global environment.
Through pre-configured views, users get access to technical data that is critical to their daily business. To protect your intellectual property, the views determine which search options will be available and what they are allowed to do with the documentation, for instance viewing, printing, or exporting data in lists.
Approved design documentation with “issued for construction” status can be made available to external contractors or suppliers with a specific view and, if necessary, in rendered format. Redlines and remarks about the design can be fed back to the design team through the “feedback page”.
Depending on the information available, BlueCielo Explorer views can be configured to provide user group-specific information. With use of the BlueCielo Meridian Asset Management Module, the data in the Explorer repository is enriched, allowing users to search by tag number to show all available tag information - including related documents and the projects in which the documents have been changed (managed through use of the BlueCielo Meridian Advanced Project Workflow Module). From the project copy, the user - like an external inspector - can jump to the complete change project for review.
Operations & Maintenance personnel can use the BlueCielo Explorer client as a stand-alone or integrated within the Maintenance or Facility Management System.
In both cases, the users can speed up their root cause failure analysis by use of hotspots when viewing the documents. The drawing can represent multiple assets (tags) with a hotspot. Clicking on the hotspot gives the option to jump to the tag or to the related documentation. From the document, the Management of Change process can be initiated.
BlueCielo Explorer module provides significant benefits for global owner/operators and engineering contractors that need timely access to technical asset information and documentation across the enterprise:
- Increased engineering, operations and maintenance staff productivity through search time reduction
- Globally accessible and consolidated source of technical information
- Reliable revision control and easy access to actual as-built documentation
- Global and immediate access to up-to-date business critical data for inspections
